Ather releases the Ather 450S, an electric bike with a range nearly 115 km, for Rs. 1.3 lakh.
Ather announced its latest electric bike, the Ather 450S, which will be sold as the entry-level model in the 450 range and serves as the company’s most cheap electric scooter.
Affordable Electric Scooter
In India, it reportedly has a 115 km reduced range.
This comes after the applicable Fame II subsidy had been substantially decreased, which began in India previously.
It has long been rumored that Ather is developing a cheap electric scooter based on their 450 platform.
Its line-up of 450X electric scooters has lately gone up in price due to the reduction in the FAME-II subsidy.
High Speed
The 450Ss prices now start at Rs. 1.3 lakh (ex-showroom), so this is excellent timing.
The bike will have a top speed of 90 kph, just like the 450X, according to what else we now know.
The acceleration timings, however, are unknown, thus it is uncertain whether it will be faster than the 450X.
New Ground Being Broken
The business added that the new 450S will keep providing the greatest technology and performance in its class.
According to Tarun Mehta, Co-Founder and CEO of Ather Energy, “Within the category, the 450S will break new ground and will offer first-of-its-kind tech features in the performance scooter segment, raising the bar in terms of riding pleasure and safety while still delivering on performance.”
Range And Battery
With a 3kWh battery pack, this latest model of the electric scooter is said to have a range of 115km under IDC (Indian Driving Conditions) and a top speed of 90kmph.
Additionally, this model is probably equipped with less features than the 450X line.
The ‘TrueRange’ of the 450S should be only a little bit more than 80km if Ather can achieve comparable levels of efficiency.
It costs Rs 1,29,999 because of the smaller battery pack.
This makes it slightly more cheap than the 450X, which, after FAME-II subsidy, costs between Rs. 1.45 and Rs. 1.49 lakh.
Changes To The Designs
In addition, hardly much can be seen in the teaser picture.
The manufacturer may have made cost savings in this area because the mirror stalks appear to be simpler in design than the 450X’s relatively expensive counterparts.
Additionally, according to design patents, Ather is developing passenger foot pegs (the 450X lacks traditional foot pegs and instead has extruded platforms for the pillion to lay their feet).
Since the 450X lacks these folding foot pegs, they might be added to the 450S.
Price Adjustments
In India, this Ather 450 version will be offered for sale alongside the 450X and 450X Pro Pack.
Following the FAME-II subsidy change, the manufacturer revised the rates for these versions, and the Ather 450X and 450X Pro Pack are now priced at Rs. 1,45,000 and Rs. 1,65,000, respectively (ex-showroom Bangalore).
Reservations, Price
Beginning in July, reservations will be taken for the 450S.
According to a statement from Ravneet S. Phokela, Chief Business Officer of Ather Energy, “Starting today, our best-selling scooter—450X with Pro Pack—will be available at Rs 1,65,000 (ex-showroom Bangalore), which is just little higher than prices in March 2023.
On Ather’s website, interested customers can sign up for this product in the meantime.
